
If you try and put a file with the same name as an existing one into the same folder, Windows will show you information about both files and ask you to confirm that you want to replace the original file. You can’t have more than one file or folder with the same name in a folder – Windows needs to tell files apart just the same as you do, so you can’t have two files with the same name in the same folder.
